The weekend before my birthday, Massimo and I did a little staycation at Vida Downtown. Invited by the hotel, we checked in on Friday, ready to enjoy a full afternoon at the pool. Although the weather was crazy hot, being aside the pool on one of those super comfy sun beds was absolutely a pleasure.

A quick bath to pull down the body temperature, an afternoon nap to recharge the energy after a long week, and then food and cocktails served directly at the pool. You can call it staycation, I call it “heaven“!

It was around 4.30pm  when we decided to eat something. Too early for dinner, but definitely not too late for a sneak. We ordered sweet potatoes fries (highly recommended, I actually ordered them again at dinner!!) and a sort of white pizza with mozzarella and parmesan on the top. Really delicious! A beer for Massimo, a diet coke for me (to balance the extra calories, of couse, lol!) and we were ready again for our second nap of the afternoon!

Vida Downtown is located in the heart of Business Bay, a few steps (literally) far from the famous Burj Khalifa tower. In fact you can actually see from the pool the Burj Khalifa making its majestic appearance over the other towers. The location of the hotel is, honestly, perfect. In few minutes you can reach the Burj Khalifa, the fountains and the Dubai Mall – better known as the main shopping destination in Dubai!

Further, you can dine at the hotel, as I did and it was great, but if you stay more than one day, you can also try the restaurants that are a walk far from the hotel! Forget the car, forget Uber, you can reach everything you need by walk.

At 7pm we were ready to call the afternoon off and we moved to our super modern room to take a shower and to get ready for dinner. We ate at 3-1 restaurant at Vida Downtown. I don’t know how exactly to define the restaurant. In Italy I’d call it a Bistrot which I think it can mean it’s a casual restaurant. The food is good, some of the stuff we ordered were actually amazing!

The only note is that taking photos with professional camera is not allowed in all areas of the hotel (something that I found a little bit weird, if I have to be honest) so the only snap that I took of my food was this one below. As you can see, the second portion of sweet potatoes was there, waiting for me!

I wish I had my camera the day after when I came back to the 3-1 restaurant for the breakfast. This wasn’t my first time at Vida Downtown. I stayed here few years ago when I came to Doha for the launch of Kat Von D at Sephora. The memory of the amazing breakfast I had was still impressed in my mind. I remember how good it was and so it was again this time. Not only the food is super delicious, but I love how they display everything! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw my Stories.
