Fashion Sketches – Natalie Martin
Half of the people in the world is covering themselves with layer of warm clothes but – as Chiara Ferragni would say – #FashionNeverStops and we are ready to welcome Resort SS16 collections!
As blogger I’m doing my homeworks researching new names of talented designers to add in my (and yours) closet. Natalie Martin is definitely one of those designers who caught my attention. I’m always attracted to bohemien brands with a great story behind.
Natalie’s dresses are made hand batik printed silk. For those who doesn’t know Batik is a centuries old craft performed by the finest artisans in Indonesia. This painstaking process involves the technique of manual wax-resist dying. Once the fabric is painted with wax designs, it is placed in a dye bath where only the areas with no wax are dyed. The wax is then removed with boiling water, and repeated if multiple colors are desired. I expertimented it a little bit during my trip to Malaysia and I love the intensity of colours and the crative of patterns.
Natalie Martin collection is a festival of colours. These dresses will be perfect for the summer season in Doha. They are long and modesty enough to be respectful of the local culture. They are fresh because made in silk. You can wear them at the beach but also at many of events that this city hosts. What is important is to add some statement accessories to stand out the dress like a nice leather belt, a pair of classic sandals and – personally – I would add a headband.

December 20, 2015Non conoscevo questa designer. Mi piacciono molto le sue creazioni. So che ci vuole ancora tanto ma non vedo l'ora che arrivi il caldo per poter indossare capi simili.
Un bacio,
