Among all the brands that Per Lei Couture carries on there is one that I particularly enjoy wearing on.
Probably you remember that wonderful green coat that I wore in one of my past outfit posts (here
). I would say that the coat was literally dancing with me, showing all its precious details.
Before the Christmas holidays I had the honour to interview the designer of the brand!
Please, have a sit, relax yourself and enjoy this chat between me and Andrew Gn.
Bonjourchiara: What inspires you more from our century and what from the past one?
Designer: From this century the bold global mix. From the past one the art and design which shaped our modern world.
B: What’s the most important fashion lesson you’ve ever learnt?
D: To always follow my instict. If you feel that something is right, you should just go ahead and be fearless.
B: What do you find most challenging when you design the new collection?
D:The starting point. Once you find it, it will flow like a river.
B: You were born in Singapore and now you are based in Paris. When Far East meets Europe. But what about Middle east, have you ever been in this area? What do you think about the role of fashion in the Gulf countries?
D: I’ve travelled to many places in the Middle East: Riyadh, Dubai, Beirut… and I saw how women there love dressing up. This contributes a lot to the fashion world, especially at a time when Western women tend to dress down. It is such a joy to see full on-fashion statements.
B: What do you think is the star piece in a woman’s closet?
D:The star piece is the one which will make her look like a superstar, all eyes on her when she wlaks into a room…
B: And which piece from your next collection should we look out for?
D: My Spring-Summer 2015 Fauve-inspired sequined and fringed dress.
B: Which would be your perfect Front Row?
D: The Duchess of Cambridge, Emma Stone and Zana Hadid.
B: Give us three words to describe the Andrew Gn woman.
D: Self confident, fashion-conscious, luxury-obsessed.
