Woven Basket Bag And Granny Shoes
granny shoes – noun.
‘shoes that make your grandmother proud of you while your partner asks himself for which reason he is in a relationship with you‘
The day I brought home a pair of granny shoes, my husband made a face that clearly shown me his thoughts about my purchase. It was a NO for him. And I totally understand, granny shoes aren’t particularly feminine. But they are comfortable. They are ridiculously comfortable. And, personally I like the nostalgic aura around these shoes.
The first time I bought a pair of granny shoes was last year and they lasted for one day. No, it wasn’t my husband’s fault. My cat decided to run on them and he scratched the soft leather these shoes were made of. Oh poor shoes. I couldn’t even report them in an outfit post. It’s like they never even existed.
RIP cutie pinky granny shoes.
This season I tried again to incorporate granny shoes into my style opting for a pair of woven shoes. They look more cat-proof. I bought the black version because it was the only one available on Topshop website. However, after a couple of weeks they added more colors and styles. And I immediately loved the yellow and white versions, but I resisted. Well, I resisted to the impulse to purchase all of them except for these pink Mary Jane woven shoes (available also in green and black).
I think I’m now a devotee of granny shoes!
All the things I’m wearing today have been intentionally selected to create a retro look. I love the deep v-back knitwear and the cream soft denim jeans. I feel like I achieved the St. Tropez’s vibes during the 50’s.
Not other bags could work better than a woven basket bag. Last summer I couldn’t find the right one. This year I played well in advance and I got my woven bag from Topshop a month ago. I know that there are many luxury versions of this bag, but honestly I happily decided to go for an affordable version and then I elevated the look adding a vintage Hermes silk scarf.
