It’s easy to fall down into the mistake to believe that to look stylish you have to be overdressed. There is nothing wrong in basic clothes. Plain t-shirts and denim jeans are the two-piece look that always wins.  The reason is because when you wear basics it’s easier to match the right detail that immediately brings your outfit to the next level. I’m sure that most of you own at least one silk scarf, or if you don’t, you can probably find ones in your mom/grandmother’s closet. I honestly stopped counting how many silk scarves I stole to my grandmother!

How to elevate your outfit simply adding a silk scarf.

The possibilities to wear a silk scarf are endless. Whatever it’s tied around your neck, your bag, on your ankle or your wist, or even worn in your hair, a silk scarf brings a fresh twist to basic looks. Further, as an extra bonus, it comes in all budgets. In fact every year high street brands like Zara includes at least a couple of options into their collection. Or, if you are good in scouting vintage treasures, you can definitely find precious silk scarves at vintage stores. Honestly, it doesn’t really matter if you spend 20$ or 200$, silk scarves are timeless pieces that can be worn over and over again!

I wore my silk scarf with a pair of Topshop denim jeans and a simple white tee. Since we walked a lot (over 14k steps! I’m becoming quite obsessed by tracking down my steps, tell me that I’m not the only one) I decided to test out my new Valentino rockstud ballerinas (budget friendly version here). I lusted after these shoes for long time and I finally gifted myself with a pair. They are incredibly comfortable which I think is a factor to keep in mind when you want to splurge over a pair of shoes (although I got mine on sale!).

Little note about the place where we took these photos…

Hubby and I took these photos in Madinat Jumeirah, one of my favourite area in Dubai where to go for a walk. It’s located right next to the famous Burj Al Arab and it offers a lot to do. There are boutiques, restaurants, alleys and water canals. Few steps far from Madinat Jumeirah there are public beaches.

We have already been there several times and it’s also one of the first places that we suggest to visit to those friends who pass by Dubai. Normally we go to Madinat Jumeirah to have dinner at La Trattoria Toscana, an Italian restaurant which I always considered very good. However, last time I was a bit disappointed. Pizza wasn’t the best one, but ridiculously expensive. I don’t know if they increased the prices because it’s high season (it was before New Year’s eve and there were really a lot of tourists), but we paid over 60aed for a glass of Prosecco, almost 90aed for a Bufalina… I’m wondering how much it will turn now that VAT has made its officially appearance in UAE.
