Is It Really Necessary?
I think 90% of the articles written today start with the exclamation: OH MY GOD, I can’t believe it’s already October. And I’ll be honest, guys, the only words that are crossing my mind at the moment are exactly “Oh my god, I can’t believe it’s already October“.
But then I’ll stop here. I won’t talk about the arrival of Fall and I won’t tell you that in few weeks Christmas will be here (gosh!). Not this time, at least.
I haven’t blogged a lot in these last days because… well, because I was confused! I think I’m living a moment of transition. As you know, I just moved from a country to another one and although I still visit the previous one, this new life is really different.
Nornally changes might help you to find inspiration. And, normally, it works for me. But not this time. I felt like I had to give a new beginning also to Bonjour Chiara, along with Chiara’s personal life ( if ever there is a difference between these two!).
But I didn’t know where to start from. Actually, I didn’t know what was wrong with the blog and what to improve. As I said, I was confused.
What do you normally do when you lose your inspiration?
I personally start browsing Instagram and Pinterest. In fact, this is what I did. And it was during one of these afternoons when I checked probably at least 50 different accounts, writing down the longest wishlist of items that I wanted to add into my closet, in that moment I understood what was wrong.
I was sick. I was sick of Instagram. I had enough of bloggers. I couldn’t look at that never ending wishlist of clothes to buy.
Now at this point, I think some explanations are due.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Instagram. I think I already said once, Instagram was the way I could connect to most of people in Qatar who now I call friends. Instagram is also helping me to find my place in Dubai. Thanks to this social media I also discovered new talents, new brands, new places to visit. It’s such an incredible source of news.
What I’m sick of are those silent rules that are now followed by many bloggers (included me) according with we have to post always amazing things, new things, cool stuff. Because we are bloggers, our lives are cool, right? Wrong!
Because I’m mainly a fashion blogger, I’ll keep the topic related to fashion.
Nowadays when I check my Instagram I always see #NewIn, #NewInMyCloset, #ShoppingHaul #NewArrival… what’s wrong with the old? Why if I buy a new jacket, I can’t feature it on my blog for two days in a row?
I’m obviously exagerating a little bit, because not all of us really wear items only once, but this is the impression that the social media world is giving to me right now. And, again, I’m sick of it.
I’m tired that I always have to proof that I’m wearing the latest must have, the latest trend.
So, when all these thoughts finally came clean in my mind, I decide that THIS is the change that I need to put on my blog. I want to keep it more real. I want to keep it simple. So excuse me if sometimes my outfit will include a simple T-shirt and pair of jeans (which I consider the coolest outfit ever, if well accessoried – #justsaying). Please don’t judge me if I’ll wear these mules over and over again. On the contrary, I hope to inspire you even more than before giving ideas about how to use what we already have in the closet.
Because, if I wear a skirt ten times, doesn’t this mean that I spent my money well?
638 words after, we are almost at the end of this post. So, what should you expect to see on Bonjour Chiara from now on? My personal style is changing a little bit. So, you will see more normal outfits. Something that you can wear anytime. Less super trendy pieces, more classic and basic but styled in a Bonjour Chiara way of course!
The two sections run by Mrs B. (Shopping with Mrs B. and Trend Alert) won’t stop (I dare you to tell to Mrs B. that she is fired!!). We will still put together round of items that you can buy. Because if I already have one striped Tee (ok maybe 7 or 8!) some of you are looking for it.
I won’t stop to post expensive things, because I don’t think this is the point. There are stuff that are expensive, but they also have quality. They are good stuff, in other words. So it’s worth the splurge. But if you are willing to spend half of your budget in a pair of shoes, girl, I won’t judge you (because I’d do the same!) but then wear these shoes over and over and over again!
Don’t even judge me if you’ll still see some #NewIn, because passing from being a compulsive shopaholic to a conscious buyer is hard, it can’t happen over a night.
But let’s try! And let’s try to do it together, shall we?

October 1, 2017I don't always wear the newest thing and rotate a lot of stuff in my closet. I also went back to posting what I like on my Instagram. And if people don't like a goofy pic of me and my little or the fact I went to target(again!) Then they can always unfollow. Life isn't perfect. And my Instagram doesn't have to be either. Wonderful post!

October 2, 2017I TOTALLY get you lovely, there is a lot of pressure on social media and us bloggers to always show perfection, but I think being real is so much more valuable. Even though I get new stuff everyday, I love wearing my fave things that can even be 15 years old! I think there's more value in quality than quantity. A couple of weeks ago I actualy made a video about the reality of blogging, because I feel like peple need to know. Let me knw what you think x

October 2, 2017Makes total sense! There are definitely all of these unwritten rules as bloggers but that doesn't mean we have to follow them.

October 2, 2017I’m just starting out as a blogger. A field I know nothing about and sometimes, I feel insicure as I’m more on personal style than on being fashion forward. Thank you, for this amazing post! You inspired me to keep it real And follow my own voice! You rock!

October 3, 2017I totally get where you are coming from. There is always so much pressure to be staying up to date with the newest trend, it's tiring.
Loved how honest you were in this post!

October 3, 2017Girl, I hear you. Instagram has been extra saturated the last few months with everyone sharing exclusively their 'best' and 'brightest' moments. A lot of posts feel like cop outs and it's been tough for me to gather inspiration too. Let's bring back originality! PS: Love. those. shoes.

October 3, 2017Great read. For my blog I like to be fashion forward and real. It's one of the reasons I don't do lookbooks (well, i'll never say never!) bc you have to keep your look fresh and innovative.

October 3, 2017We don't have to adhere or follow all the rules. Our imperfections is what makes us unique. I do agree with your post and you look beautiful. Great post!

October 4, 2017hahah this reminded me of that time (not so long and i wrote about it too) when i was called out for repeating outfits. i was not named but it was obvious that the person what talking about me. and i spoke my mind. just because i am blogger does not mean i do not repeat my clothes. because i do. i mix and match and i am honest enough to say that i do not have an overflowing bank account to sustain a closet that does not make me repeat outfits from time to time. as i said on your IG post, blogging is more than just the clothes, the travels, the fancy dinners or the number of following you have. we do this for us and for the right reasons...our passion to stay inspired and for our love of sharing. dont let anyone or anything (specifically instagram) get in your head or ever take that away from you. much love and kisses!! ❤︎

October 5, 2017First off, I love the pattern mixing you've done here with the hat and top, so cute! I couldn't relate any more to what you've mentioned. There are days that I just don't feel inclined to open up Instagram because I feel like I'm being pressured to constantly show a perfect life that is close to nonexistent. When when people say they crave relatable and genuine content, I beg to differ. I mean, would we really get the same amount of likes if we posted a photo that hadn't been edited and not in the best lighting? I think not and this sometimes gets me frustrated. When I feel like this, I take a break from the app and all things social media really. I find my inspiration and motivation from truly living in the moment and taking everything in that I come across in real life. It rejuvenates me. Anyway, thanks for sharing how you feel because like I said, I can certainly relate. I hope you're having a great week so far, beauty!
XO,
Jalisa

October 5, 2017This is so true! I'm also really tired of seeing the same outfit in different iterations on girls that all look basically the same. It's boring. I'm more interested in people who are unapologetically unique and themselves.

October 8, 2017Lovely read dear. IG and Pinterest are great sources of inspirations. But it should not be the only source of inspiration. I dont think there's anything wrong with posting old stuff, same goes with new stuff. It's a personal thing. Many people (including myself) are excited to share new things in their life (or in their closet). Blogging doesnt have to be trendy. There are lots of blogs out there who are actually unique in their style, and they turned out to be really beautiful.
Also, I completely agree with you about "changing personal style". I think that shows growth and maturity. Thanks for sharing your thoughts dear. Enjoyed reading your post.

October 15, 2017Such a nice thought, it can get intimidating thinking you have to have new clothes every time you blog, or for every occasion. Instagram can really make you feel like you could never buy enough and you always need more. Its great to think about the more real side of things. outfit repeating you favourite looks etc. LETS BE REAL!
