Bonjour Chiara Studio’s Makeover: Before & After
After working for most of Bonjour Chiara’s life from my dining table, I finally have a studio. This makes me feel really really excited. I mean, it’s Bonjour Chiara studio!!
At the beginning I simply put what I call the essentials: desk, chair and whiteboard that really helps me to follow my calendar. However, I really didn’t like to work from this place. I didn’t feel inspired at all which is unacceptable to be able to run a blog and to come out with new contents! The space looked pretty poor, a bit uncomfortable. I felt like this studio wasn’t reflecting Bonjour Chiara soul at all.
You can see with your eyes.
Therefore, I decided to plan a makeover for Bonjour Chiara studio to add a touch of glamour.
I’m honest, I knew what I wanted. I didn’t want to spend a fortune! At the end, I believe that what really helps to feel home in a space are the small details, those little things that remind you something. For me, those things are my fashion books, my candles, and my collection of stationary supplies (washi tapes, tons of notebooks, pens and colors). So I needed something where I could store and display these items.
I went through IKEA website and I filled out a shopping list of items that I thought they were perfect for the job. I checked the final amount and it was under 850qr/aed!!

I put half of the budget for KALLAX shelving unit 2×4 (2 pieces).
The reason why I chose KALLAX shelving units is because I like the fact you can customize them. You can use some squares as shelves and you can close others with boxes/baskets, mini doors or mini drawers. In addiction, you can use the top of the unit as a further surface where, for example, I personally placed the printer.
The rest of the stuff were really small details, but, as I said before, those details are what really matter.
I picked two white orchid flowers (for the moment, I opted for the artificial version). Then I used this glass carafe to store my washi tapes (many more are arriving soon!). I also bought a set of decoration balls to place here and there in the room.
Last but not least, I picked some boxes, small and large sizes, that really helped me to clean what I call my mess. An example? My photography kit! I never know how to store it. I don’t want to display it because the dust may ruin my lens. But keeping everything in the backpack abandoned on the floor makes me feel sad. This floral box is the perfect solution!
If you would like to redo your own space, I’m giving away two vouchers of 1,000 qr worth each to spend at Ikea Qatar. To take part of the contest, check my Instagram page.
