Checked Skirt + Polka Dot Shirt
I have the feeling that we are slightly moving toward the Spring. So there are only few occasions left to wear what we call “winter clothes” in Doha. Velvet and check print are definitely part of the winter closet. When temperatures will hit 50 degrees, it will be impossible to wear any of these heavy things!
So the other day I pull out my latest purchase: this checked skirt. I like when clothes follow my movements. I feel like I’m dancing. When I saw this ruffled checked skirt on Namshi.com, I didn’t think twice and I bought it. It’s such a standout piece!
The checked print is not the easiest print to style. The risk to result too much a country girl is around the corner. If you don’t like to experiment extravagant mixes with your clothes, I would recommend to wear the checked skirt with a plain white shirt. Or even with a logo T-shirt for a more informal and casual look.
But we all know that I’m always in to try unusual mix and to match different prints together. And there is nothing that I like more than to pair dots with stripes or checks.
So, yes, I took the risk of an epic fail when I decided to wear my new ruffled checkd skirt with an old polka dots shirt. But you know what? I like this unexpected outfit that I put together. The result is pretty nice. I feel like a modern girl who wears her granny’s clothes!
The key to mastering this look is to keep in mind that the skirt is the masterpiece of your look. You can mix & match other prints but they must look more delicate in order to create a stylish contrast with the checked skirt.
For a further easy and quick update of the outfit you can play with clashing accessories!
