My Secret To Looking Chic In The Cold
This post starts more or less like this:
“Baby, it’s *freaking* cold outside”.
Last time you heard news from me was 2016, when I was talking about how to wear two ugly colors together (which seems you liked the result a lot, reading all your comments!). At that time there were around 25 degrees in Doha. Simply the dreamy winter! But Massimo (aka, the husband) and I decided to leave the perfect temperature behind us to spend New Year’s holiday in Italy with family and friends. Although we almost had an entire week of sunny days, the weather was really cold (up to -10°C!!).
Determined to not let the thermometer scare me, I found the way to keep myself warm wearing stylish cold-weather outfits. So, today I want to share with you my secret to looking chic in the cold.
My secret to looking chic in the cold can be summarized in few words: layers over layers over layers. It’s the best way to put together an outfit effortlessly.
In particular, I never forget to wear warm tights and a stretch basic bodysuit that follows the silhouette. Calzedonia 100 den have been my favorite tights for ages. I prefer opaque tights (like these one) rather then the lighter ones. Normally, I find my bodysuits at Intimissimi. However, if I can dream a little bit, I would like to have one from Wolford.
I like wearing skirts in winter but to be sure to keep my feet away from freezing I wear a double layer of socks and I always prefer boots over shoes.
The second layer I put on is a long sleeve shirt. The perfect garment to wear under a warm and soft wool knitwear. Wool is the only fabric allowed in winter. At least in my opinion 🙂
Then, the last layer is my favorite. This is really my secret to looking chic in the cold. There is nothing better than to wear, and to play with, winter coats when temperatures drop down. They are the super-hero pieces of the season.
I have a quite wide collection of coats, but I love them so much that every winter I end to add one – or even two – new model. January is also the best moment to invest in an item that normally can be quite expensive. The website is full of promotions and sale offers. If you like a pink coat like mine, I suggest to check this great deal.
To add the last personal touch on your outfit, don’t forget to play with accessories. I always wear a hat, especially this time when we had sunny but really windy days. Normally I bring with me a maxi scarf and a pair of glooves too.
This time I also played with my glasses. Actually, they are more a need than a simple accessory, since I’m pretty blind 😉 This shape is perfect for my oval face and the glasses are extremely lights. You don’t feel them on your nose!!
