It has been a while that I don’t sit in front of my laptop and look for new designers. This year is bringing a lot of projects and things to do that my days are insanely busy. I’m very glad of what is happening but sometimes I need a bit of rest.
This morning I took few hours for myself and I started to jump from a website to another one in search of inspiration. And I found it!
The inspiration brought the name of Tony Chestnut
and it comes from one of my favourite blog called Miss Moss
Tony Chestnut is an canadian brand found by Jill Sawatzky who said about herself:
“My name is jill, and I make clothing and textile art. My clothing line, Tony Chestnut, is a one woman show from start to finish. All pieces are designed and produced in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
I make clothes for you. Clothing to carry you through your day. Clothing to make you look and feel good. Clothing to express yourself in”
The story behind the brand’s name is quite funny. Many people think that Tony Chestnut is the name of the male designer behind the brand, but actually it comes from a song for kids which the designer learned when she was in kindergarden. She used this name to call her collection presented for her final project at fashion school and then she kept it for her own brand.
The new spring summer collection is a mix of pink and grey tones (I personally love this colors’ combo!) and it’s inspired by a special collect of photos of Frida Khalo.
Why I loved this brand? Because it’s a perfect balance between feminine and masculine. Each piece appears to be very simple but it’s not. It can become incredibly stylish if combined in the right way.
Defintely a brand to keep in mind!
